The girls and I spent our first day making art today. After shopping in the late morning (Lucy had to wake me up at 10H20 - that's how they indicate time here - meaning 10:20am), we packed a picnic lunch of yogurts, cheese, baguette, and peaches and bundled up a comforter to be our picnic blanket so we could sit beside our neighboring Arc. Forgetting sunscreen, after lunch we had to relocate to a shady spot a little farther from, but still in full view of, the Arc. There we worked on our journals and each did our first sketch of the Arc. We say first because we all realized that it is difficult to draw complex architecture accurately. Maybe later I'll photograph and post the evolution of our Arc drawing skills.
