9:15am - Ride in car from Imigs' house in Pohl-Gons to Butzbach train station. Farewell to our wonderful hosts.
9:37am - Regional train #RE15007 Butzbach to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof main train station.
11:03am - Subway (S-bahn) from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof to Stadiom station in Frankfurt.
11:13am - Long walk on muddy path in the rain to the main entrance of the FIFA Women's World Cup Final (US v. Japan) in hopes of finding souvenirs for sale or at least a decent view of the stadium. Not so much. Did I mention it was raining? We had not intended to buy tickets since we were going back to Brussels that evening before the game - good thing too since it was sold out.
11:51am - Tram ride (light rail) from Stadiom Strassenbahn stop (did I mention the long walk; we ended up near a different stop altogether) to Hauptbahnhof (more scenic than subway though).
12:30pm - Find at long last in station an info booth about FIFA Women's World Cup and score little pins, stickers and chocolates. Happy.
1:10pm - Walk across colorful pedestrian bridge across the river Main previously mentioned and discover the festival I saw from afar was in fact the food and music fest for FIFA Women's World Cup. Soak in atmosphere, grab popcorn for Julia, say we were there, then hoof it back to catch our train.
1:35pm - Walk briskly back to unstash our suitcases from the locker and get to platform 18 for our train.
2:16pm - High speed international train ICE#14 Frankfurt to Brussels Nord station.
5:40pm - Bus #61 Brussels Nord to Chevalerie stop, one block from our apartment.
6:10pm - home at Brussels apartment.
...dinner, unpack, start laundry...
8:45pm - start watching US Women play Japan for FIFA Women's World Cup FINAL.
11:45pm - finish watching the US Women lose to Japan in a heartbreaker.
About 8 different ways of getting around (if you include crossing a pedestrian bridge over a river as one, which I did).
Julia's face really says it all. This is the closest we got to the soccer stadium.
The girls and I marching quickly across the pedestrian bridge over the river.
